Located in the town of Mataporquera, Cantabria, the plant came into service in 1930. The plant has its own quarry, a crusher (1,000 tonnes/hour), rawmix mill (200 tonnes/hour), a liquid fuel waste burner, a clinker line (1,950 tonnes/day), a cement mill and a bagging line.
It recently supplied cement to major projects such as the Castrovido dam and Laredo port.
Cement production capacity (tonnes/year): 830.000.
Portland cement type CEM I medium-high strength (42.5 MPa at 28 days) with high initial strength R.
High initial strength makes it particularly suited for concrete, both bulk and reinforced, when fast hardening is required.
As a CEM I type cement, it is ideal for precast and pre-stressed applications, providing a high degree of strength.
Portland cementCEM I high strength 52.5 MPa at 28 days with high initial strength R.
An essential cement for making high-strength concrete, very appropriate for industrial production of high-strength precast components.
Its high performance makes it particularly suitable for pre-stressed concrete, which is widely used in special structures such as pre-stressed concrete bridges.
High-clinker mixed portland cement, type CEM II/A-M with fly ash and limestone (V-L) medium-high strength 42.5 MPa at 28 days with high initial strength R.
High initial strength makes it particularly suited for concrete, both bulk and reinforced, when fast hardening is required.
The fly ash content makes this cement more workable when used in concrete or mortar.
Pozzolan cement type CEM IV with fly ash (V) medium strength 32.5 MPa at 28 days with normal initial strength N.
Cement recommended for reinforced or bulk concrete, especially in moderately aggressive environments, waterworks and concrete with reactive aggregate. Widely used in roads, for soil stabliisation, soil cement and filler.
Its moderate hydration heat makes it suitable for large volumes of concrete. Widely used in public works for soil stabilisation and soil cement.
Low-clinker blast furnace slag cement, type III/B medium-high strength 42.5 MPa at 28 days with low initial strength L and sulphate resistant/SR.
This cement is made with portland clinker and its high content in blast furnace slag makes it particularly resistant to chemical attack (particularly sulphates and sea water). Recommended for concrete with potentially reactive aggregate.
Because of its moderate hydration heat, it is particularly appropriate for producing large blocks of concrete or components that are very sensitive to thermal shrinkage.
