Mixing instructions

Add approximately 6 litres of water per bag of VALCOL CLASIC (C1). Mix by hand or with a slow electric mixer to obtain a smooth paste. Let stand for 5 minutes before using. Then mix again.

VALCOL CLASIC (C1) should be used within about 90 minutes of mixing.

Substrate preparation

The substrate must be flat, dry, solid, clean (without dust, surface grout, loose particles or any other material that impedes good adhesion: paint, concrete release agents, etc.). The substrate must be level. Use a 2 metre ruler to ensure that the substrate surface is even to within 5 mm.

Ensure compatability between adhesive and substrate. It should be applied on cement mortar substrates. If applied directly to brick, it is recommendable to apply 5 mm of screeding mortar or cement-based adhesive 48 h before tiling.

Do not apply on gypsum substrates (use VALCOL YESO instead). For courses > 5 mm, use VALCOL CAPA GRUESA or VALCOL FLEX GRUESA, depending on the absorbency of the tile. For low absorbency tiles, use VALCOL CELANIC, VALCOL FLEX or VALCOL SUPERFLEX. Check the product datasheets.

Tile preparation

The tile must be completely clean. Ensure that it is flat.

Mortar made from cement, graded aggregate and organic and inorganic admixtures which improve its workability, water retention, adhesion and anti-slumping properties.

Instructions for application

Apply in a single thin layer (on the substrate) or a double layer (on substrate and tile) with a serrated trowel.

Do not exceed the product's open time. Accordingly, application is recommended in small sections, regularly checking the adhesive's stickiness and ensuring that no film forms on the surface. Re-trowel in the event of surface film formation.

Lay the tile and press firmly to flatten the grooves in the cement.

At all times respect structural, perimeter and intermediate joints as well as grout joints. At least 1.5 mm in indoor applications. Grout 24 hours after application using VALCOL JUNTA UNIVERSAL.

Do not use the product at an ambient temperature below 5ºC or above 35ºC.
